Are you still using this underwater drone?
I am. I tore it apart and replaced a number of motors and props and a couple of connectors. Cleaned and lubed the motors for winter and I’m looking forward to launching it in the spring again.
What’s the app?
Super fantàstic biutiful
Only 7 out of the 10 pack are good. 3 of 10 do not spin at the swivel. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUggREp1Kytzg8CpXMHFtlfQp4bskrIuy I left my 2 star review initially because only 70% of the product did what it was supposed to do, "spin at the swivel "contacted me and said they must have been crushed during delivery. So he sent me a replacement pack. 100% of that pack work as they should!
They work really well underwater. And those units are now over 10 model years old!
That’s one strong current right there😮
It certainly was! Made more challenging by dragging a large camera rig around with me! Interesting dive tho.
Beautiful man
Is the tether neutrally bouyant?
Where is the second part
That is an excellent question! I didn’t make part two as I got busy using the M2 for commercial purposes for 2 years before it got very glitchy and I couldn’t trust it for work anymore. I just recently got it back out of storage, replaced a few motors and tether connectors and did a series of firmware and software updates and it is ready to go again. I’ll be doing a followup video this week detailing that journey but with real world deep lake footage. Should be posted next week followed by a Chasing F1 review.
@@TheFishFindersTV When my other business gets launched and have the money I was thinking about getting one of these with the claw. And the auto reel the stand spool looks like a pain the butt On a scale of 1 to 10 what would you give it and would recommend the unit or not if not then why . Thanks for the reply
Thanks
Allan If you recall we interviewed a hundred years ago for a writing job. Fast fwd 30 years I'm considering a chasing M2 The review is excellent JJ
That was a lifetime ago Jerry! Hope all is well! Thanks for the feedback on the M2 review. I put mine to work for a couple of years successfully before it started to get glitchy. Unfortunately, it finally crapped out during a tv documentary shoot and I haven’t trusted it since. I’ll re-motor it this year and try again - failing that it’ll be replaced. Let me know what you decide and it was nice hearing from you!
Awesome video!
Thanks Dean. Looking forward to posting more of these this season.
Incredible. Hundreds of smaller perch following that one giant. I've always found fish behaviour to be fascinating
Here's a joke. What did the fish say to the parrot sitting on a tree branch? Nice Perch!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great work!
Super fain biutiful
How are you mounting your camera to the rigger ball?
I dove Tobermory in summer seasons and the water was a bit cold, especially on the Arabia. What a beautiful place above and below.
Thank you for the reply…
TX battery has a very long life and has never been an issue for me lasting for a day of operating while just swapping out ROV batteries as needed.
Meant TX battery longevity
Can you charge thru the tether connector like a gladius or do you have to remove battery every time? Also how long does the tax run on a charge? Thank you
Katt you need to remove the battery to charge it. Tether is control and data transfer only on the base M2. I have the standard and hi cap batteries and rarely run them down as my missions are very specific. Also when running a second camera - like a GoPro 9 - I am always limited to the battery life of that camera (around 45 minutes) which both M2?batteries will do easily. I have used the larger battery for 2 hour dives with lots of capacity remaining - depends tho on a lot of factors like speed and other ROV movements, current, using lights and claw and water temperature.
Hi Alan ~ Your videos should be the used as THE teaching tool for emerging internet and UA-cam reviewers. Clear, articulate, well-observed and in-depth, I powered through all your M2 coverage even after deciding against a marine drone for my UW image acquisition. I'm an oceanic shooter who'll be sticking with hand-held equipment, but am so impressed with your reviews I had to see more. Kudos, sir, on outstanding presentation!
Chris, thanks so much for the kind words. I enjoy making the content and it's very rewarding to have people such as yourself appreciate the effort and hopefully benefit from the information. Thanks again and good luck with you u/w image acquisition. I still prefer diving my Nautica/GH4/Keldan rig aswell ...
My interest are in drones , but I’d like to explore a under water drone do you think this drone would be a good starting drone , my concern is I live on a river and water quality is dirty brown/ green how do think the M2 would handle it
I started the same way having flown drones commercially for over 10 years before getting the M2. Easy to operate but don’t expect much in low viz water in terms of video and photo range. You’ll need to be very close to the targets. Haven’t got a lot of experience in heavy current but it will handle a small amount quite well form my experience. Just has a pretty significant impact on battery life.
@@TheFishFindersTV ok maybe the m2 pro would be a better option
There are a lot of things I like about the M2 but the propulsion system in my experience is very poor. All of my thrusters seized after the ROV was stored properly for the winter (rinsed, dried and lubricated) after operating in fresh water only. Apparently the M2 Pro and Pro Max have updated thrusters but time will tell about their durability. I’m on the fence still as to whether I’ll repair and upgrade or move on to a different and more robust ROV.
@@TheFishFindersTV ohh I wasn’t expecting that result from the motors I would have thought they would have been well sealed , have you pull any apart to see what has failed, how many hours would you say you did before putting away
@@perry8498 unlike my UAV’s I didn’t log ROV hours but I had several hundred on the M2. The motors are not sealed by design and according to numerous accounts including my own, not robust enough for continuous professional use.
Man wish I have the money for that reel. Nice video Allen.
Thanks - it does work well and makes single person operation easier. Can tip over easily if there is much tension on the cable (friction from lots of tether in the water as an example).
Thanks and learned how to open the cartridge
Haha it took a bit to figure out the cable routing the first time and then to remember to close the cartridge before operating the e-reel. Works really well tho.
@@TheFishFindersTV will try
is there catfish in this lake?
I don’t think there are any channel cats in Nipissing (from my experience anyway) but there are plenty of brown bullheads.
Thanks for the video! Did you end up mounting the diving lights?
Thanks Niklas. I mounted Sola 1200's briefly on UCLS buoyancy arms but only did pool testing with that setup. For the work I had immediately after that the larger profile created by the arms was a hinderance so I didn't run and good real world trials. If I can get the motor issue fixed in time I might world on that again early this season.
Sir can you explain how is this product in moving water
Hi Sridhar - I haven't had much of an opportunity to use the M2 in current so I can't really comment. Most of my experience has been in freshwater lakes. There's a good Facebook group where users share info about use cases - you might find that more helpful.
We are the company working under water Inspections but it is not success in our operations its not stable in the moving water.we are not convinced agin we are using our divers Recently this product failed before 12 months After purchase. Warranty they give only 6 months for thrusters all my eight thrusters freeze after I explained they send all eight thrusters free of charge including shipping. Product is not up to the standard as advertised. BUT THAIR SUPPORT AMAZING
@@sridhar8450 Unfortunately my experience has been different. I have just been told that my 8 thrusters will not be covered and that I will have to send the unit to a local repair facility for work. Understand it's out of warranty but disappointed in the lack of support given the focus I have put on the product as an early adopter in Canada.
iOS devices are horrible to develop against in my opinion. Most devs focus on Android and port over to iOS. iOS is also horrible to debug against based on my opinion. I will never own an apple product... To me, they are simply a fad with easily broken glass. Just my opinion... Facts may be different. To each their own.
Thanks for the upload I always enjoyed the tv show
Thanks for the feedback Oscar. I’ll be putting more of the shows up weekly.
Fucking amazing! I was on Lake Ontario and thought I saw some
Thanks! It really is amazing to see here. I’ve seen some great light shows in northern Saskatchewan but it’s really cool to see them here.
Hi Allen, I love watching your informative videos. I noticed you bought the M2 about a year ago now. Just wondering how the motors are coping, have you been rinsing out salt and applying a corrosion-resistant oil? does your M2 still function? if not, how many missions did you manage to get out of it? cheers, Martyn.
Hi Martyn - thanks very much for the feedback. Coincidentally, I have just got my M2 out to start preparations for the Spring filming and to my surprise and all 4 motors were fully or partially seized after sitting in storage for about 5 months. The M2 has been run exclusively in fresh water, rinsed after every dive to ensure all sediment is clear and sprayed with silicone lube after drying. I'm awaiting Chasing's feedback before posting formally as I was aware they were working on a better motor system. Hopefully it will include a retrofit program for the legacy M2's. When the M2 works, it works really well. The motors, however, have been very problematic. I'll keep you posted.
@@TheFishFindersTV Thanks Allen, much appreciated. I have not received my M2 yet but have also bought a salt rinsing product and "corrosion X" to soak the motors in periodically. Hope all goes well with Chasing innovations, would love to hear if they back their product after you were such a great supporter of them.
@@TheFishFindersTV so any update on your m2 ? is the problem fixed ?
@@ahmadsodiqazami8139 Nope. Not covered by warranty so Chasing just pointed me to parts resellers that were in a different country and left it at that. I've taken the motors and props of and cleaned them the best I can. Got them operating again but I think I have a software issue that is causing intermittent uncommanded actions. I plan on working on it over the winter but will also be looking at other alternatives for next year.
We are looking to buy fertilized tilapia, salmon, trout, sturgeon eggs. How does the process work, and would you be able to ship it to California?
I only fish to see the fish so if i had a camera i wouldnt have to fish
I hear you! I’ve spent lots of time just trying to capture different fish and behaviours on camera.
Thank you sir 🙏🏾
How does this transmit video to the surface?
Command, control and video transmission is through the tether between the controller and M2. Video is then sent wirelessly to the tablet via the App or through HDMI to a remote monitor. Recorded imagery is saved to the onboard microSD. Hope this helps.
Those weren’t jumbos!!
I think the best way for humans to help. Is to let the majority of king salmon go up river and spawn. The king salmon fishery is as good as years ago. Too many small salmon. Let the a salmon reproduce naturally. In the 80s and 90s we in California had great king salmon runs. Big king salmon to 30-40 lbs.
I'd be surprised if it was a commercial operation - far too much time checking and re checking
I was Briefed and informed that i am the Empress of Aztec I was kidnapped and taken to someplace that humanfeet shouldn't have ever touched they drained a Small sea and Ocean river the sea and ocean river were a nursery for all of the oceans I need help evacuating the people removing the debris chemicals viruse meth and clone and allowing the water to return to some place so important that when the drain this it caused starvation the turtels also lay eggs on those beaches and sand beaches need replaced and the beaches on the coast need cleaned and so does the water I need help and ideas
This is one of the best UA-cam reviews I've watched. Great information, knowledgeable, well produced, and well spoken. Great work!
Thank you for the feedback!

This was cool to watch, very interesting. Thanks. Makes me wanna go visit a fish hatchery I know about.
